This method is for the determination of dissolved elements in ground waters, surface waters, and drinking water. It can also be used for determination of total recoverable element concentrations in waters as well as wastewaters, sludges and soils samples.
For total recoverable analysis of a solid or an aqueous sample containing undissolved material, analytes are first
solubilized by gentle refluxing with nitric and hydrochloric acids. For the determination of dissolved analytes, the sample be filtered through a 0.45 µm filter immediatly after collection. An aliquot of the filtered aqueous sample or for the "direct analysis" total recoverable determination of analytes in drinking water where sample turbidity is <1 NTU, the sample is acidified with nitric acid, and then diluted to a predetermined volume and mixed before analysis. Analyses for both preparations are performed by ICP/MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry).
Aqueous samples containing suspended or particulate material ≥ 1% (w/v) should be extracted as a solid type sample
No Obligation Quotation for Analytical Services
If you would like us to provide a quote for laboratory analysis, just provide us with as much information as you can about your project (the more, the better) and we'll provide you a quote via email. As you are searching or browsing our Analytical Guide, you'll see the Request-A-Quote icon... just click on it to start the request process.

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
