Method 5001

2,4-D and 2,4,5-T

This method is for the determination of (2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid (2,4-D), and (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy)acetic acid (2,4,5-T). The sample is collected on a binderless glass fiber filter and desorbed in 15 mL of methanol. The sample is analyzed by HPLC with a UV detector. This method is applicable for 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T, and their salts, but not their esters. The working range of the method is 1.5 to 20 mg/m³ of either compound for a 100-L air sample. Note: This method combines and replaces Methods S279 and S303 which are the same except for eluent composition and UV detector wavelength.
