Datalogging: AutoMet 580 Data Logger

Product Image of Datalogging: AutoMet 580 Data Logger

The AutoMet 580 Data Logger combines the performance necessary to meet worldwide standards with ruggedness, reliability, and portability. Without complex programming, the 580 Data Logger acquires, displays, logs, alarms, and transmits critical data such as wind speed, direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, solar radiation and rain.

  • Powerful connectivity: Ethernet, MODBUS, 12 analog ouputs, USB, RS-232C, RS-485
  • Statistical calculations: Avg., min, max, delta, Std Dev., dewpoint and more
  • Matched pyranometer inputs: for global horizontal and plane of array measurements
  • PT-100 plantinum temperature inputs: for ultra-accurate and wide range temperature measurements
  • Easily integrates with sensors to meet the data collection requirements of key regulations, including EPA, PSD, and WMO
  • Quick deployment, installs in minutes
  • Convenient display and screen-specific keys for easy programming
  • 433 Days of storage capacity at one hour intervals
  • Communications flexibility, including modem and radio
  • Convenient, small, and rugged data transfer module
  • Low power for solar, battery operation, in remote locations
  • Up to 16 recorded channels of measured and calculated values
  • Digital telemetry outputs
  • 2 Alarm channels available with NO relay contacts (max power 24vdc @ 20mA)

Communicating with the 580 can be as simple as connecting directly to a PC or printer, or by using modems, radio telemetry, cellular telephones, or a portable data transport module. The 580 interfaces to a wide variety of sensors, including those measuring wind speed, direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, solar radiation, and rain amounts. Up to eight analog inputs (including two counters for wind speed), three RTD temperature inputs, two SR inputs, rain gauge channel, and one digital serial sensor input can be connected simultaneously.

Outputs consist of:

  • Three RS232 ports for computer or modem connection
  • USB for computer connection
  • RS485 for industrial serial communications
  • Ethernet connection

  • 12, 16 bit, 0-5V, scalable to 1 or 2.5

Once acquired, data can be displayed, stored, or evaluated for alarm conditions. Alarms allow relays to trigger local controls, annunciators, or communications devices.

The large display, and screen-specific keypad provide on-site information and easy programming. The menu-driven screens mean users do not need to understand the complex programming strings that are required by many data loggers.

The AutoMet’s portability and quick deployment are enhanced by a convenient power system, including a 12 vdc primary operating voltage. This, along with convenient optional carrying cases, permits the AutoMet’s operation in remote areas where solar power and battery-backup are needed. The 580 power requirements are 50mA @12vdc with display off, or 125mA @ 12vdc with display on which makes this a very thrift datalogger for remote areas.

As always, Met One Instruments provides your AutoMet based weather stations pre-wired, preprogrammed, and pre-tested at no extra charge to get your site up and running faster.
