Method 7056

Barium Soluble Compounds

This method is used for the determination of barium soluble compounds by flame atomic absorption. The sample is collected on cellulose ester membrane filters, extracted by hot water leaching method (twice), followed by concentrated hydrochloric acid and evaporate to dryness. The working range is 0.13 to 10 mg/m³ for a 200 L air sample. This method determines barium in water soluble barium compounds. Insoluble barium compounds (e.g., barium sulfate) require and ashing procedure. NOTE: This revises Method S198.
