Method 6016

Ammonia by IC

This method is for the determination of ammonia in workplace air. The sample is collected on sulfuric acid treated silica gel tube, desorbed in deionized water, and analyzed by ion chromatography. A 0.8 micron MCE pre-filter may be used to remove particulate interferences. The working range is 24-98 ppm (17 - 68 mg/m³) for a 30 L sample.

This method is applicable to STEL (short term exposure limit) measurements when sampled at > 0.2 L/min.

NOTE: This method combines the sampling procedure methods of S347 and 6015 with an ion chromatographic analytical procedure similar to M6701 & OSHA Method ID-188.
