This method is for the determination of Vitamin A in mixed feeds, premixes, human and pet foods. Dry mixed feeds, premixes, food should be ground so that more than 95% of the sample passes through a No. 20 sieve. The sample is hydrolized with a KOH solution and analyzed by spectophotometry.
This method is not applicable to products which contain provitamin A (carotene) as a predominant source of vitamin A activity nor to high potency vitamin A concentrates used for feed, premix, and food manufacture.
