Detection and Enumeration of Legionella

This method is for the determination of Legionella from water.  A portion of the sample is cultured in an agar medium and incubated for seven days.  After incubation, any Legionella colonies are counted using a micrscope.

Holding Time:   Analyze samples as soon as possible after collection. Ideally the analyses should be started within 24 hours of collection.
Preservatives:   Store the samples at 5 ± 3°C before analysis.
