This method is for the collection and analysis of the following isocyanates: toluene diisocyanate (TDI), methylenediphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), HDI Biuret, HDI Trimer, and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) from stack emissions.
Samples are collected isokinetically from emission sources on a 90mm glass fiber filter coated with 1-(2-pyridyl)piperazine (1,2-PP). The basic train setup includes a probe, filter, and a sampling pump. The sample is analyzed using HPLC.
After sample collection the filter is placed in a jar containing 5.0mL of 90:10 (v/v) [TDI or MDI] or 70:30 (v/v) [HDI/IPDI]
acetonitrile/DMSO. The probe is rinsed with acetone, add 2-4 drops of 1-(2-pyridyl)piperazine or an unused coated filter to the bottle with the probe rinse. The inside of the front glass filter housing is wiped with a 1,2-PP treated filter moistened with acetone or 90:10 (v/v) [TDI or MDI] or 70:30 (v/v) [HDI/IPDI] acetonitrile/DMSO. This filter is placed in a vial with 5.0mL of 90:10 (v/v) [TDI or MDI] or 70:30 (v/v) [HDI/IPDI] acetonitrile/DMSO. All containers are sent to the lab for analysis by HPLC.
No Obligation Quotation for Analytical Services
If you would like us to provide a quote for laboratory analysis, just provide us with as much information as you can about your project (the more, the better) and we'll provide you a quote via email. As you are searching or browsing our Analytical Guide, you'll see the Request-A-Quote icon... just click on it to start the request process.

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
