This method describes the sample collection and analysis of acetic anhydride. Samples are collected open face on glass fiber filters coated with veratrylamine and di-n-octyl phthalate. Samples are extracted with 50/50 (v/v) 2-propanol/toluene and analyzed by GC using a nitrogen-phosphorus detector (NPD).
No Obligation Quotation for Analytical Services
If you would like us to provide a quote for laboratory analysis, just provide us with as much information as you can about your project (the more, the better) and we'll provide you a quote via email. As you are searching or browsing our Analytical Guide, you'll see the Request-A-Quote icon... just click on it to start the request process.
Hold Times, Preservatives, Preps, Collection, Analytical & Documentation | |
---|---|
Holding Time: | After 15 days of storage at ambient temperature (20-25°C) or refrigeration at 5°C, recoveries of acetic anhydride remained above 96%. |
Preservatives: | Store refrigerated or at ambient temperature. |
Required Preps: | Samples are collected with a four-piece polystyrene cassette containing two coated glass fiber filters. Each treated filter is coated with 10 mg of veratrylamine (3,4-dimethoxybenzylamine) & 10 mg of di-n-octyl phthalate (improves collection efficiency). |
Collection Method: | Glass fiber filters: 7.5 L @ 0.5 L/min. for ceiling measurements and 7.5L @ 0.05 L/min. for TWA (time weighted average) samples |

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
