Method 90

Phthalic Anhydride

This method is for the determination of phthalic anhydride.  The sample is collected using an open-face sampling device that contains two glass fiber filters coated with 10 mg of 3,4-dimethoxybenzylamine (veratrylamine).  After collection the filters are extracted with 90:10 (v/v) acetonitrile/dimethyl sulfoxide and analyzed by HPLC using a UV detector.
