This method is for the determination of 2-butoxyethanol (butyl cellosolve) and 2-butoxyethyl acetate (butyl cellosolve acetate) by GC/FID (flame ionization detector). The sample is collected on a charcoal tube. After sample collection the sample is desorbed with a 95/5 (v/v) methylene chloride/methanol and then analyzed by GC/FID.
No Obligation Quotation for Analytical Services
If you would like us to provide a quote for laboratory analysis, just provide us with as much information as you can about your project (the more, the better) and we'll provide you a quote via email. As you are searching or browsing our Analytical Guide, you'll see the Request-A-Quote icon... just click on it to start the request process.
Hold Times, Preservatives, Preps, Collection, Analytical & Documentation | |
---|---|
Holding Time: | The recovery of both analytes were above 87% when stored at ambient or refrigerated temperatures after 15 days. |
Preservatives: | Samples for 2-butoxyethyl acetate should be stored at 0°C or colder to reduce hydrolysis. The method say that reduced temperature shipment of samples to the laboratory is not necessary. |
Required Preps: | Charcoal tube, 100 mg/50 mg, (SKC 226-01) |
Collection Method: | The method recommends a 0.1 L/min. flow rate with a sample collection volume of 48L. |
Analytical Methodology: | GC/FID |

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
