Method 2536

Valeraldehyde by GC/FID

This method is for the determination of valeraldehyde. The sample is collected on XAD-2 sorbent tubes coated with 10% 2-(hydroxymethyl)piperidine, desorbed in 2mL toluene and ultrasonicated for 1hour, followed by GC/FID analysis. The working range is 0.11 to 110 ppm (0.4 to 390 mg/m³) for a 10-L air sample. The method is also suitable for determination of furfural and glutaraldehyde in a mixture.
