Method 1450

Esters I

This method is for the determination of esters.  Those listed in the method are n-amyl acetate, 1-butyl acetate, 2-ethoxyethyl acetate, ethyl acrylate, isoamyl acetate, isobutyl acetate, methyl isoamyl acetate, n-propyl acetate, and sec-butyl acetate.  The sample is collected on a charcoal tube.  After sample collection the tube is desorbed with carbon disulfide and analyzed by GC/FID (flame ionization detector).

High humidity sampling atmospheres greatly reduces sampler capacity and breakthrough volume.

NOTE: This method combines and replaces Methods S31, S32, S35, S37, S41, S44 through S48, and S51.

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
