This method is for the determination of free cyanide (CN-) in groundwater and drinking water using a cyanide selective electrode. The sample is distilled and an aliquot is analyzed using an ion selective electrode (ISE).

Preservatives:   Preserve with ascorbic acid and NaOH to pH > 12 is sample is chlorinated and just NaOH if there is no chlorination.
